African Orphan Educational Foundation invites Palm Beach County artists to contribute illustrations to our Children’s Story/Coloring Book and Literacy Project for Africa.

Simple illustrations of village life will accompany the children’s story to promote English language literacy to Primary School children in the no-tech and low-tech regions we serve. All illustrations should be in outline form, allowing children to color the images with crayons or colored pencils.

Imagery should be designed to appeal to 9-10 year olds in developing African nations.

Artists completing a Commitment Form will be asked to submit illustration(s) reflecting the local culture in a style similar to initial samples provided. Once commitments are received, artists will be provided a summary of the children’s story, written portion of the story appearing opposite their page, suggestions of culturally appropriate imagery for their page, and access to images and videos from the region to help shape illustrations reflecting the local African culture and lifestyle.
